Our Purpose
This 400,000 square foot biologics manufacturing facility will be the first of its kind in the English-speaking Caribbean and will be spearheaded by a team of 12 BioTechnology leaders, each with more than 25 years of Tier 1 commercial and clinical BioPharma experience in the USA, Canada, Korea and the EU.
With their extensive experience in mAbs, vaccines, recombinant DNA and mRNA manufacturing (DS & DP), Technology Transfer, Quality Operations (QA/QC), Validation and Engineering, IT & Data Systems, Regulatory Affairs, as well as Supply Chain Management and Distribution to global markets, the HSL leadership team aims to diversify the economic and manufacturing landscape of the Caribbean through the provision of STEM-related jobs and training while delivering quality products to nearshore OECD markets.

Michael Lopez
Michael Lopez - Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Michael Lopez is a technical leader and strategist who has spent over 3 decades in BioPharmaceutical leadership in Canada, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Across his international career he has worked with Tier 1 firms such as Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi Pasteur, Merck and, most recently, with Medytox (Korea) as SVP Global Quality Operations and Site Manufacturing Head, guiding the company to US FDA and EU approval for Phase 3 clinical trials and preparation for commercial market entry.
A native of Canada, and Jamaican by descent, Michael is a graduate of University of Toronto and the Ivey School of Business at Western University. Quality Operations and Site Manufacturing Head at Medytox in Korea (6yrs).Courtney Sylvester
Courtney Sylvester - Chairman, Steering Committee
Courtney Sylvester is a business consultant with wide experience in investments, finance, and commercial banking.
Over his financial services career of more than 3 decades he served in Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, Small Business Banking and Wealth Management at the management and executive levels with Scotiabank, Jamaica. He led crucial teams to significant increases in sales and improved customer experience, while also implementing processes leading to increased efficiency and mitigation of business risks.
Courtney is a Jamaican with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA in Corporate Financial Management, both from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Ricardo Allicock
Ricardo Allicock - HSL Head of Government Relations
Ricardo Allicock is a former member of the Jamaican foreign service with over thirty years of professional experience in successful change management, financial services management and diplomacy.
He has broad interpersonal, diplomatic, leadership, negotiation and organizational skills, and is experienced in the coordination of local, regional and international governmental bodies for the purpose of achieving common goals.
Ricardo has international experience in financial services and publishing, and served as a diplomat for more than two decades, including in the capacities of Consul General to the Southern United States and the Bahamas, and Ambassador to Japan, Korea, the Philippines and Indonesia, as well as High Commissioner to Australia, India, Malaysia and New Zealand.
Through exposure to both the private and public sectors, Ricardo has keen understanding of the advantageous nexuses which exist between private industry and political influence. He has a B.A. in English Literature and an M.A. in International Political Economy of Development from Mercy College and Fordham University, respectively, in New York.
